Shop Policies and Limitations

Payment and Pricing

All prices are listed in Canadian (CAD) dollars. You can adjust the currency using the Shopify tool at the bottom of the page. This only approximates the cost in your local currency and subject to change based on exchange rates.

I reserve the right to change prices and offer sales or discounts without notice. If an item is accidentally listed with an incorrect sales price, Beam Creative Designs reserves the right to cancel your order to correct and relist the item. You will be notified by email if your order has been cancelled for this reason.

Canadian sales taxes are applied at checkout when applicable. However, taxes and duties may apply for US and International shipments. The customer is responsible for paying all such import taxes, duties, and fees.

All sales are final.

Coupon Codes and Sales

Unless otherwise noted, coupon codes cannot be combined.

If you forget to use a coupon code at checkout, it will not be applied to open or fulfilled orders. You must use your coupon code at the time of purchase.

Sale prices will not be applied to orders pre or post sale.

Sales, coupons, and discount codes cannot be used for custom items.

Shipping

Orders are shipped from Kingston, Ontario. Please allow 2-4 days to process your order prior to shipping for in-stock items. All items are shipped with tracking (standard rates (3-10 business days), unless lettermail is shown as shipping method (Canada only) and selected. Once your order has been fulfilled and shipped, you will receive an email with your tracking number. If you would like faster delivery, please contact us for details and pricing.

I currently ship to Canada and the United States. Shipping Internationally (outside of Canada and the USA) may be available. Please contact me to inquire if this is possible and to get a quote for shipping costs.

Free shipping applies to orders that are $250 or more in Canada and the United States. Free shipping is automatically applied at checkout.

I cannot guarantee the exact arrival of your orders. All items are shipped standard tracked shipping. If you require your items sooner, please contact me prior to ordering at beamcreativedesigns@gmail.com. Shipping costs will increase for rush/priority shipping.

I will not be held responsible for lost items or damage during shipping. Lettermail does not have tracked shipping. Please carefully check your mailing address at checkout. Should you need to change your mailing address, contact me ASAP at beamcreativedesigns@gmail.com.  If your order is returned because of an incorrect mailing address or incorrect shipping method, you will need to purchase a new shipping label. All customs, duties, import taxes, and brokerage fees are the responsibility of the purchaser. Check your customs regulations. Tax is paid by the receiver upon import into your country.

Waxed Canvas Shipping:

  • Sold as 18" precuts and will be shipped rolled.
  • Small scratches/patina may exist on waxed canvas. This is part of its charm and does not affect the use of the canvas. It will show lines and marks as it is used creating the rustic and worn patina that is part of the character of waxed cotton. If you would like to remove scrunches and marks, I recommend using a blow dryer to heat the material and gently rub to blend the wax. See care instructions for more details.

Cork Shipping:

Sold by the quarter yard pre-cut - 18" x 26". Quantity of 1 = 1 pre-cut piece of 18" x 26". If quantity of 2 is ordered, one continuous piece 18" x 52" will be provided. If quantity of 3 is ordered, one 52" piece and one 26" piece will be provided as maximum length is 52". Single (1) quantity may be shipped folded. Multiple quantities will be shipped rolled.

Important Note: As cork comes from a natural wood source, the nature of the material surface can be naturally pitted with small holes and cracks. This is part of the appearance and natural quality. When cork is folded, it can sometimes have small superficial cracks, that do not go through the backing and do not affect the structural integrity of the project. Dark and bright coloured dyes can sometime rub or wear off on sharp corners, such as boxed corners more easily over time.

**PRE-ORDER ITEMS - this is fabric that will ship at a future date as it has not arrived yet from the supplier. Although the anticipated shipping date is provided in the listing, this is subject to change based on when it is received by me. I will keep you updated via email if there are delays.  If you have other items in your order, your order will not ship until all fabrics/items are in-stock.

Local Pick Up

If you live in the Kingston, Ontario area, you can select local pick up at checkout. Pickup is in the west end of Kingston. Once your order has been placed, please allow 2-4 days to process and create your order. Once it is complete, you will receive an email confirming your order is ready for pickup and the pickup address. The email will request you to reply indicating the date of pickup. This helps me to know when to place your order in the pickup area. Please reply to this email as soon as you can.

Returns

All purchases are final sale and non-refundable. This includes handmade items.

Cut fabrics, interfacing, patterns, books, sale or clearance items, and shipping fees are non-refundable. We specially cut fabrics and interfacing to fulfill your orders.

Units and Increments

Please note that we sell fabric in 1/2 yard increments on this site. Therefore, if you would like to purchase one (1) yard of fabric, you need to have “2” units in the cart. 1 1/2 yards would be “3” units in the cart. 2 yards would be “4” in the cart, and so on. We do this to provide you with more variety when you shop.

Special units for cork and waxed canvas. See listings for details.

Warranty on Handcrafted Items

While constructed with the best materials and reinforced throughout, your handbag is not meant for excessively heavy items, such as a computer (or overdue library books, bricks, pets...). A small electronic item, such as an iPad, should be fine. They are also not meant to be overstuffed.

My custom handbags have a 45-day warranty. If for any reason, your bag has a construction failure, please contact me at beamcreativedesigns@gmail.com. Please include a description and photographs of your bag and purchase date. Repair/return will be determined on a case-by-case basis, if applicable.

As with any handmade good, you may see minor imperfections. But I hope instead you see the result of something that was 100% hand-crafted and not factory-made. This is not considered to be a construction defect.

Limitations

Although I’ve done my best to photograph products, colours shown may vary slightly based on individual monitor settings. For fabrics, I use fabric supplier provided photos and will update if newer/more representative photos are available. Should you have any questions about what a fabric or bag may look like, please send an email to beamcreativedesigns@gmail.com. I am not responsible for screen-to-screen differences or other interpretations.

Sizes are approximate for handcrafted items and generally within 0.5” (half an inch) of the measurements provided. It can be challenging to accurately measure bags when they have rounded corners.

Gift Cards

Gift cards can be used online for purchase of retail fabrics, handcrafted items, or put towards custom orders. They can also be used in-person at Beam Creative Design's booth during events, markets, or shows.

The purchase and use of a gift card constitutes acceptance of these terms: The gift card may be applied toward any purchase made at Beam Creative Designs. The gift card is not exchangeable for cash or replaced if lost or stolen.

The gift card does not expire. Should Beam Creative Designs decide to cease operations, the gift card must be used prior to the last day of operation.

Custom Orders

I love to make custom orders for people! It’s a great way for you to get a bag or quilt with the features you’re looking for. Once a custom order is submitted, I will review your request and reach out to discuss further and confirm your request. We will work together to finalize the details such as fabric selection, bag features and size, and schedule.

Once details are finalized, you will be provided the cost to create the handmade item. Depending on the amount of design input required, a design/consultation fee may be applicable, and you will be notified prior to purchase. For all custom quilt design requests larger than a baby quilt, a non-refundable $25 design consultation fee is required prior to starting the design and fabric selection process. This deposit will be subtracted off the final cost of the quilt should you move forward with the order.

Once the design is finalized, and you have made the decision to move forward, a 50% non-refundable deposit for the cost of the item is required before I start cutting and sewing. Once the final product has been created, photos will be sent. The remainder of the cost must be paid at this time, and prior to pick-up or shipping.

You will not be shown progress photos of the item as it is being created. Should I need to use a material that was not discussed, creative liberties will be taken. This includes things such as zipper colour, rivet colour, strap colour, etc.  Creative liberties also include my choice to place things in a certain way to enhance the features of the bag (for example, label placement, use of rivets, etc.). I will use my best judgement for slight variations in features of the bag. Should I feel strongly that something you have chosen will not work well, I will contact you to discuss.

Sales, coupons, and discount codes cannot be used for custom items.

Inventory

I order my supplies in smaller batches. I do my best to accurately list the stock available. For handmade items or printed fabrics, often once they are gone, they are gone. If you had your heart set on a specific handmade item, or specific fabric and it’s out of stock, please reach out to me to discuss if there are other options.

I do my best to track inventory accurately. If I have made a mistake, and the item you ordered is no longer available, you will be provided a refund for that item. I will contact you via email as well to notify you of the inventory error.

Quilt Care

Quilts are made with high quality cotton along with a cotton/polyester batting.

Although I do my best to trim any loose strings, sometimes I may miss the odd one. If you find a string, carefully trim it. This does not impact the quality of your quilt.

Your quilt has never been washed. I recommend you use a colour catcher for the first couple of washes. I recommend washing your quilt separately or with like colours in cold water. It is machine washable. Hang to dry. If you must put it in the dryer, use the tumble dry on the low heat/no heat setting.

I am not responsible for damage caused to your quilt due to washing or drying.

Once washed, your quilt will have the textured and crinkle that adds to the character and handmade nature of this one-of-a-kind product.

Bag Care

Minor marks can generally be removed by hand using a light detergent/water and a light dabbing action. Test a small area first. I do not recommend putting bags in the washing machine or submerging them in water for hand washing. Do not dry clean.

Leather and vinyl on your bag can be wiped clean with a lightly dampened soft cloth. Use leather cleaning products with care and always test a small area first.

Waxed Canvas - The waxed canvas will have noticeable craze or crack marks with use. It will show lines and marks as it is used creating the rustic and worn patina that is part of the character of waxed cotton. To clean, use a soft damp cloth or brush to spot clean as needed. Never dry clean or use detergent. Although you can remove most crease marks, deeper folds or folds from packaging can be more permanent. Often these folds will blend in overtime and use of the material. If you would like to remove scrunches and marks, I recommend using a blow dryer to heat the material and gently rub to blend the wax. Ironing the material is at your risk. This can be done, but you must use a pressing cloth or parchment paper to protect your iron and ironing board. Clean your machine after use as some waxy residue can come off while sewing. Bright and deep colours are subject to crocking and bleeding and should not be mixed with white or light colours in the same garment.

If waterproof canvas was used in the making of your bag, your bag is not waterproof. The seams are not waterproofed therefore water can still penetrate the bag. If you have a spill inside the bag, you can turn it inside out to give it a wipe with a damp cloth and let it dry. Do not soak or immerse bag in water.

I am not responsible for damage caused to your bag due to cleaning products and/or excessive water.

Cork

Waxed Canvas

Waxed canvas shows lines and marks where it is folded. This adds and creates the rustic/patina look that is part of the waxed canvas character. Overtime the natural wax finish will fade. Refinishing Wax refreshes colour, strength & builds protection against the elements.

Clean your machine after use as some waxy residue can come off while sewing.

Bright and deep colours are subject to crocking and bleeding and should not be mixed with white or light colours in the same garment.
